Why this notice?

This notice is provided pursuant to Articles 13 and 122 of Legislative Decree No. 196/2003 – Personal Data Protection Code and its subsequent adaptation to EU-GDPR 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation), as well as in accordance with the provisions of the General Provision of the Italian Data Protection Authority of May 8, 2014, to those who visit the website piandeiciliegi.it

Definition of cookies

Cookies are small text strings that websites visited by the user send to their device (usually to the browser), where they are stored and then sent back to the same websites on the user’s next visit. While browsing a website, the user may also receive cookies on their device from other websites or web servers (so-called “third parties”); this happens because the website being visited may contain elements such as images, maps, sounds, or specific links to web pages on other domains that reside on servers other than the one hosting the requested page.

Purpose and functions of cookies

Cookies are used to perform computer authentication, monitor sessions and store specific information concerning users who access the server, and they are normally present in very large numbers in each user’s browser. In this regard, certain operations could not be carried out without the use of cookies, which in some cases are technically necessary.

For example, access to restricted areas of the website and the activities that can be carried out there would be much more complex and less secure without cookies that make it possible to identify the user and maintain their identification throughout the session.

Visit AboutCookies.org for more information about cookies and how they affect your browsing experience.

Types of cookies

Technical cookies: these are cookies used solely for the purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide that service” (Art. 122, paragraph I, Privacy Code). They can be divided into browsing or session cookies, which ensure normal browsing and use of the website (allowing, for example, a purchase to be made or authentication to access restricted areas).

Analytics cookies: these are considered equivalent to technical cookies and are used directly by the website operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on visits, the number of users and how they use the website. They are used exclusively for statistical purposes.

Functional cookies: these are cookies that allow users to browse according to a series of selected criteria, such as language or products selected for purchase, in order to improve the service.

Profiling cookies: these are cookies designed to create profiles relating to the user and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the Internet.

Third-party cookies: while browsing the website, users may also receive cookies on their device from other websites or web servers, which are set directly by operators of websites or servers other than this website. These cookies may be sent to the user’s browser by third-party companies directly from their websites, which can be accessed while browsing this website. In such cases, the operator of this website has no involvement in the operation of these cookies, whose transmission is the responsibility of those third-party companies.

The website uses two types of cookies: technical cookies and anonymized analytics cookies.

In particular, the website uses the following cookies:

The website uses the Google Analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (hereinafter “Google”) to generate statistics on website usage; Google Analytics uses cookies (not third-party cookies) that do not store personal data. According to the current terms of service, Google will use this information, as an independent data controller, for the purpose of tracking and examining website usage, compiling reports on website activities for use by website operators, and providing other services relating to website activity, connection methods (mobile, PC, browser used, etc.) and the ways in which users search for and reach the web pages of this website. Social Media

This type of cookie integrates features developed by third parties into the pages of the Website, such as icons and preferences expressed on social networks. Examples include “social plugins” for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn. These are parts of the page being visited that are generated directly by the aforementioned websites and integrated into the page of the host website. The most common use of social plugins is to enable content sharing on social networks.

The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all websites operated by third parties. The management of information collected by “third parties” is governed by their respective policies, which you are invited to consult.
