Where we are

Coming from the A1 (MI or BO) or the A21 (Brescia or Turin), exit at PIACENZA SUD and take the ring road following the signs for STADIO; exit the ring road at the sign for STADIO, BETTOLA, GRAZZANO VISCONTI and keep left. At the roundabout, follow the signs for VALNURE (to the left); at the next roundabout, take the provincial road towards Valnure (Bettola, Grazzano Visconti). Continue for 20 km, and after passing the town of Pontedellolio, continue for another 5 km, then leave the provincial road at Biana, turning left near the small church. Continue for about 200 m until you reach an intersection, where you should take the small road on the right that climbs towards the woods, following the sign for Monte Santo. After 2 km you will find the sign for Pian dei Ciliegi. IMPORTANT: For those coming from Bologna, we strongly advise against using the GPS because it will direct you to exit at Fiorenzuola rather than at Piacenza Sud, as we recommend, because this is the easiest route to reach the Center.

From the airport, take the bus to Milano Centrale railway station, then take a train to Piacenza (train timetables can be found on the Trenitalia website). Then follow the instructions below:

There is a pedestrian walkway to reach the bus station on the left-hand side of the railway station, straight ahead across two car parks (10 minutes). If you arrive on a weekday, from Piacenza railway station you can take a shuttle bus to the bus station for extra-urban buses. The shuttle runs every 10 minutes, and the journey takes 5 minutes. It departs from the square in front of the railway station. The shuttle will display P.zza Cittadella – V.le Risorgimento – P.le Marconi (railway station) – Lupa (bus station). The shuttle arrives at lane 1 of the bus station. On public holidays, however, extra-urban buses stop at the railway station and depart from the square in front of the station.

On the display board, look for the next service to Val Nure – it may be for Bettola, Selva, Farini (E34-E35 with a change at Ponte dell’Olio station).

You can buy the ticket (4-zone ticket) at the tobacconist’s at the railway station, or buy it on the bus in cash (5.00 euros) or pay by debit card (4.20 euros). The stop where you need to get off is Biana. It is a request stop, 5 km after Ponte dell’Olio, so you will need to ask the bus driver to stop and let you off; the journey takes about 50 minutes. When leaving Piacenza, or when you are on the bus, you can call the Center (0523/878948) or Gianni (329-1269064) for a lift by car (only for retreats organized by Pian dei Ciliegi), or walk uphill towards Monte Santo (2 km uphill) to reach the Center.

N.B. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes. Biana is a request stop, between the Recesio and Molino Croce stops, so you need to ask the driver to let you off. The ticket costs 4.20 euros (5.00 euros if purchased on the bus – debit or credit cards are also accepted)
